Progression system and new mode added The closed beta for Blizzard’s multiplayer shooterOverwatchreturns today in the Americas and Europe, and it has upgrades: a new progression system for cosmetic rewards, a capture-point mode called Control with a pair of maps, and the option to play against AI opponents. Retro Games Ltd has been creating mini consoles based on microcomputers for a while now and has released The C64 Mini (Commodore 64), The A500 Mini (Commodore Amiga), andThe 400 Mini (Atari 400). This time around, they’re resurrecting Sinclair’s ZX Spectrum, which is, in my opinion, one of the coolest 8-bit home computers....

The Game Grumps announce their highly anticipated sophomore title Dream Daddyis a game that completely rocked the indie game community. Developed and published by the Game Grumps of YouTube fame, the dad-centric visual novel/dating simulator gained a cult following basically overnight, and rightfully so. It’s an incredibly polished and adorable game with fun characters and someawesome representation. All eyes are on Game Grumps to see what they’ll do after the success of their debut, and now they’ve finally announced their next project: a narrative-driven, psychological horror game calledHomebody....

As part of that, she dives back into a world of small-town drama, broken hearts, and expectations. A legion of past exes arrive to team up against Jala, and you’ll have to deal with them to move ahead....

Some people likeSkyrim. Some people don’t. From what I can tell, the difference between the two groups lies in their interest (or lack there of) in wandering around in a virtual landscape that earnestly attempts to recreate the appearance of “the real world”, while occasionally fudging with reality a bit, with things like dragons and the ability to shoot fire out of your hands. Some people are really excited about that concept....

Theugly trendof development studiosletting staff gocontinues today with word of Warner Brothers’ Seattle Studio having to cut staff across a number of development teams. While no specific studios were named, the Seattle branch contains a number of well-known developers including Monolith Productions and Snowblind Studios. I can only hope that there aren’t very many layoffs, and this doesn’t lead tosomething worse. Its a shame that this happened at all, but I wish everyone there the best of luck....
