Pocket Warfare During this weekend’s Tokyo Game Show, publisher Koei Tecmo announced that its feudal franchiseDynasty Warriorswill be making the leap to mobile platforms iOS and Android. Not much in the way of intricate detail was offered regarding thenewDynasty Warriorsmobile title, though a short teaser trailer appears to show that it will feature a scaled-down version of the franchise classic musou gameplay. Players will select a team of up to three characters, pulled from various entries in theDynasty Warriorsfranchise, before diving into typical, mass-brawling action....

The idea of aDead Spacefilm has been thrown around forseveral years now, but news out of Comic-Con suggests EA could be more seriously pushing the property towards becoming a film franchise. MaybeDead Space 3‘s“disappointing” saleshave something to do with the film’s resurgence, but EA has already put aNeed for SpeedfilmstarringBreaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul in the can, so perhaps this is merely the future of all of EA’s franchises. According to Variety, EA is planning to take more control over how its franchises are developed into movies, rather than just pitching, for example, the idea ofDead Spacefilm....

Yesterday, EA Sports confirmed the first three fighters for its upcoming mixed martial arts videogame, tentatively titledEA Sports MMA. Headlining the game’s roster will be current WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko, the Russian big man who’s considered one of the best fighters in the sport. Joining him will be Gegard Mousasi (Dream) and Renato Sobral (StrikeForce). Signing Emelianenko would seem to be a major coup for EA, sincerecent rumorshad him pegged to announce a deal with the UFC on Friday, and because he’s a major name in MMA....

VR, fighting, adventuring, and some superhero co-op Sony has just wrapped its first State of Play for 2023, showing off what’s in store for the PlayStation 5 and its newly released PlayStation VR2 headset. There were some usual suspects, but also a decent number of pleasant surprises. From the release date and console debut ofBaldur’s Gate 3to that wild, wacky-looking new Enhance game, there were definitely a few reveals that caught us off guard....

Speaking toNintendo Powermagazine in the August issue, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that the next WiiLegend of Zeldatitle wouldn’t stray from the series’ roots. “I don’t think it’s going to be that radically different,” Miyamoto said. Today, theFall Guysaccount confirmed that the fifth season will be a Jungle Adventure. The first promo image wasreleased on theFall GuysTwitter account, after users completed the “Big Jigsawus” jigsaw puzzle to piece together the theme. From the image, it looks like there will be some neat new explorer duds for the little bean-like characters, as well as some nasty traps....

Good lord, this game is intense. It makes you feel like you are actively being cuddled by a giant, one-eyed kitten. It’s weird — you don’t know exactly what’s going on or what it’s going to do, but God damn it, you can’t help but love it....

I’m generally not that big of a fan of MMOs. I’ve checked out a good portion of what the genre has to offer, but for many reasons none of the games that I spent some time with could ever keep my interest longer than the beta test/trial period. Not even the mightyWorld of Warcraftcould pull me in like so many other people, and, honestly, it was probably the least interesting MMO I’ve played....

A real change in direction for Nintendo Nintendo has gone to great lengths at GDC this year to show indie game developers that it’ll be on their side going forward. There are a a number of gestures that indicate a more indie-friendly attitude from Nintendo, and while some will want to dismiss them as mere gestures, I honestly believe that we’re seeing a big change. At a panel titled Nintendo Wii U Application Development with HTML and JavaScript, Takeshi Shimada from Nintendo’s Software Development Environment Department challenged a large audience including many indie game developers to see how easy it is to port current web-based apps and games to the Wii U with Nintendo’s Web Framework (NWF), which gives developers full access to the Wii U GamePad and Miiverse integration, among other things....

Iron Galaxy announced today thatRumbleversewill launch on August 11 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and PC via Epic. The free-to-play brawler goes live on the 11th, and a week later the first season ofRumbleversewill kick off. According toIron Galaxy’s blog, this will include a Battle Pass with cosmetics to earn along a special path. Rumbleverseis a 40-player battle royale-style game....
