It was originally slated for September Plans have changed! Originally slated for September 2022, Nintendo is now targeting aXenoblade Chronicles 3July 29 launch. The news was shared this morning directly from Nintendo, who gave us a new trailer that showcases “more about the game’s story, characters, and strategic battle system, where you’re able to team up with up to seven characters.” We’ll evidently be put into the role of controlling “Noah and Mio,” as they deal with a conflict between the nations of Agnus and Keves: part of Aionios....

The best stuff on Destructoid this week [2/8]

Metal Gear shorted, Sonic’s hot legs, and Persona 5 scoops [We post a lot of articles here at Destructoid. The endless, ouroboros news cycle has us burning the snake at both ends, which will ultimately push big news, thoughtful original pieces, and all sorts of other great content off of the front page. Check here every Saturday for my attempt to rectify that.] But a week has passed, yet it feels a lifetime since we’ve touched....

The Daily Hotness: Directly Nintendo

Check out everything Destructoid did today Anyone else getting the feeling these Nintendo Directs are getting a little too common? I’m not complaining though. Would have been a slower news day without it. Tune in the coming weeks as we get jacked up on Red Bull and meth to keep up with the Xbox Event and E3. That said, we’ve still got reviews ofDust 514andDonkey Kong on 3DS. One of the best indie games of last year,Dust: An Elysian Tale, is making its way to PC, and it seems there’s no love lost between EA Sports and the Wii U....

The Daily Hotness: Fortune for you

Check out everything Destructoid did today There’s something about theFifth Elementmovie. I always watch it when it’s on TV. Every time. No matter what part it is, no matter how many times I’ve seen it. This has nothing to do with anything on the site, really. Today, Storm took another adventure through theGod of Warseries, Dale reviewed the newShin Megamititle for 3DS, somehow someone started a petition to get Microsoft’s DRMbackinto the Xbox One (say whaaaat?...

The Daily Hotness: Oh, were you going to use that?

Check out everything Destructoid did today You can’t keep up with gaming news without hearing something, more often than not, that can make you scream bloody murder. Never to be left behind, Square Enix has really outdone itself though, by sellingTomb Raider’sJapanese voice track, to Japanese customers, as $30 DLC. Wow, just wow. At that point, you might as well just sell the whole thing for $30 bucks more and avoid the nickel and diming rep....

What did you think of the Splatoon Global Testfire?

Splat happy or set to pass on toon? This past Friday and Saturday, Nintendo launched its first ever limited time online stress test/demo with theSplatoon Global Testfire. Due to multiple work-related responsibilities, I was only able to jump on for one match, but I think it was enough to get a feel for game’s mechanics and online functionality. It also gave me a chance to play the littleSquid Jumpmini-game that’s there to help you pass the time while waiting for a match....

Who is Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3?

InBaldur’s Gate 3, there are quitea few companionsto recruit as you proceed to wage war on The Absolute, and what’s more, they’re all optional! Trust me — you don’t want togo it alone, if for no other reason than you’ll be absolutely swamped when it comes to the boss fights. I think the point is that you theoretically could, and I find that to be incredibly neat. If you’re anything like me, you get really attached to fictional characters, and sometimes, when it comes to romancing said fictional characters, you have a tendency to be down apocalyptic....
