That sure is a lot of racing games in the latest Humble Bundle

A Codemasters special One or two racing games per year is my cap. They can be great in moderation, a nice change of pace from whatever else you’re playing. The latest Humble Bundle is for people who go full speed ahead at these kinds of things — 10 racing games, many of which are made redundant by newer versions in the same series. Fabled racing game developer Codemasters is the subject of this week’s Humble Bundle....

The DTOID Show: Saints Row & Skyrim As Santa-Sims

Hey guys! Hope your holidays went well. This was The Destructoid Show’s Monday episode, but I was too preoccupied with wholesome family-time/being hungover/shooting stuff with a pellet gun to post it when it first went up. It’s not your typical news episode, but more of a Let’s Play, comparing whether or notSkyrimorSaints Row The Thirdis a better game to pretend you’re Santa Claus in. Also, a couple things: I know Sinterklaas is theBelgianDutch [Update: I’m just digging myself deeper....

The new Forza Horizon 2 cars are mostly vehicles you’ll never drive in real life

I bet you could swing a 1977 Ford Escort, though The new batch of cars revealed forForza Horizon 2brings about a bit of a staunch reminder that open-world racing games aren’t all that realistic. Let’s face it — there’s a slim chance you’ll ever be behind the wheel of a Bugatti Veyron. Even if you did manage to snag one of these supercars, the setting just wouldn’t feel right. Few games feature distracted soccer moms drifting into your lane while some redneck’s coalrolling up ahead....

Time to give this another look Little King’s Story? Great! A wonderful Wii game somewhat in the vein ofPikminbut with its own style and humor.Little King’s Storyon PC? That’s another matter entirely. Summing up his assessment of the PC version, Patrick called it “playable” and noted that was “about as far as [he’d] be willing to go.” Thankfully, things are looking up. There’s a substantial patch out today to address many of the issues plaguing the game and, notably, it was the work ofport fixer extraordinaire Durante....

The Yakuza: Dead Souls ending theme song sure is dreamy

Sega’sYakuza: Dead Soulshit store shelves just two days ago, so while it’s unlikely that most people out there have completed the game, I suppose it’s possible. If you want a preview (not really a spoiler) of what to expect from the game’s ending sequence, we’ve managed to get our hands on the ending theme music which comes as a dreamy electronic remix of one of the game’s main themes exclusive to regions outside of Japan....

This Boreal Tenebrae trailer has left me confused and wanting more

Because you’re worth it Writing for a video game website, I get dozens of emails a day from developers large and small trying to pimp their games. Too many, in fact, which is why I have a few ground rules that determine whether or not I’ll waste my time reading a pitch or not. My first rule is to skip over any email with a subject line that name-drops other, more prominent properties....

Umbrella Corps unveils newest mode, ‘Multi-Mission’

Joining the previous ‘One Life Match’ I’m still completely unsure aboutUmbrella Corps— worried even — but Capcom is keen on continuing to share information for it, so I’ll at least listen in from a distance. The next mode is called “Multi Mission,” and the entire gimmick is that it randomly cycles through eight gametypes. That sounds…okay I guess? I mean, a few of them are standard rulesets like “deathmatch” and “domination” that are already in a million other shooters, but hopefully the more unique ones will stand out....

What games are you trying to finish by the end of the year?

Plotting out the rest of December for Maximum Gaming Now that it’s December, I’m taking one last look at my backlog in hopes of wrapping up more games and rolling into the new year with a relatively clean plate (only to immediately fill it up again). It’s a futile exercise – there’s always going to be more to play – but it’s become an end-of-year tradition for me. The big one will beHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which I’m happily chipping away at during most evenings....

What’s a perfect wait time for a Destiny raid after a content launch?

A week? Destiny 2‘s Forsaken expansion is out next week, but its initial raid offering isn’t. Last Wish is actually due to spring up 10 days after its launch, which has created a rift within the community. Some think it’s not long enough, and some think it’s way too long — and in some ways the latter group with be factually correct as this is the longest Bungie has made its players wait to date....
