What happens in Vegas For 50 years, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has shown off innovations and inventions, demonstrating how technology can be harnessed to improve our lives or just make things a little more fun. I got to check out the show on behalf of Destructoid this year to see what we can look forward to in gaming tech. Rip, tear, repeat If you were worriedDoomwould follow in the footsteps of other modern first-person shooters with a five hour jaunt of a campaign, you may sleep easy now. According toid Software, the average length of the campaign clocks in at a hefty 13 hours. Mods and possibly more ports are next for Darkest Dungeon

A million copies sold to date Red Hook Games has passed the one-million-copies-sold milestone for its spirit-crushing RPGDarkest Dungeon. I never would’ve predicted it would reach that level of success early on, but once it got going and hit its stride in Steam Early Access, it was clear the game was resonating with people. According to the studio, Steam accounts for 94 percent of the copies sold so far, for a few reasons: a strong Early Access launch and full release on Windows and Mac, and the fact that the PS4 and Vita versions ofDarkest Dungeonhave only been out since July 02, 2025 (they’ve had “decent” sales at “approximately 50K copies [sold] worldwide)....

Publishers back Blockbuster rentals to fight used games

Blockbuster has said that it’s seen a lot of support from game publishers over its increased game rental plans, because they help erode the impact of used games. Apparently, companies receive quite the kickback from rentals, whereas they get “nothing” from trade-ins. “We have ramped up the rental side of our business and we have got an awful lot of support from publishers,” claimed commercial director Gerry Butler. “Publishers like renting as it takes away from trade-ins....
