Discontent everywhere! Ubisoft took a bold step in opting to releaseAssassin’s Creed Unityexclusively on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. With a fragmented userbase on consoles, publishers are mostly taking the predictable approach of launching games on last- and this-gen systems, obviously to maximize sales. Maybe the business-savvy (or at least conventional) logic backs this decision, but that’s not what Ubisoft’s doing withAssassin’s Creed Unity. By dedicating itself to developing solely on the most powerful platforms available, Ubisoft has opened the door to make the most involved and detailedAssassin’s Creedtitle yet....

So weird An Italian based Kickstarter that allegedly had the backing of Nintendo to release a “never before seen 1989 edition ofSuper Mario World” has unceremoniously been canceled mere days after it started. With stretch goals for SNES/Switch/3DS ports, this campaign’s goal, which again, was supposedly “officially accepted by Nintendo of America on June 17, 2025,” went live several days ago, but came to an abrupt halt with just €971 of its €30,000 goal (and €90,000 3DS stretch goal)....

gamescom who? gamescom is still underway, but while the video game electricity is in the air why not look ahead to the next big gaming convention that’s less than a month away? The Tokyo Game Show will be held from September 15-18 in the same place as always: Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan (so yeah, maybe it should be called the Chiba Game Show). Capcom is of course going to be attending and it just put up apage announcing what it will be showing....

With a growing number of last-generation games getting high-def compilation discs, it’s odd there haven’t been more digital titles making it to retail. Leave it to Capcom, however, to jump right on that. Due out in spring 2012, theCapcom Digital Collectionbrings together eight Xbox Live Arcade games for $39.99 while retaining the individual Achievements and online functionality. There’s enough worthwhile content in there to make this bundle valuable. I have to imagine that most people reading this website have at least a few of ’em already, though....

The die is Castti Castti is the Apothecary ofOctopath Traveler 2. She is one of the most well-rounded characters in the game, as she has access to adequate offense and defense. Need to hit a single foe hard? Castti can do it. Did a big enemy party appear? Castti can strike them all at once. Does someone need healing? Well, Castti wouldn’t be a good Apothecary if she couldn’t handle that too....

It’s something to behold If there is one aspect ofWarframethat’s lacked behind all the other facets that make up the game, it’s getting new players into the vast lore Digital Extremes has created for it. There is a lot to soak in within the first few hours and it’s easy for players to just forget about paying attention to the storyline and instead focus only on the looting and shooting. I’ll admit in my months of playing the game, I haven’t always been 100% clear on everything that was happening in the overall plot....

Patrick Plourde confirms that it’s not likely Child of Lightwas a standout release for Ubisoft. In an era where fans were becoming increasingly worried that they were just jamming AAA open world concepts into everything they made, a beautiful indie platformer with RPG elements is just what the publisher needed. It’ll probably go down as one of their greats, alongside of all of the big-budget affairs. Sadly, it doesn’t seem like there’s going to be another one anytime soon....

Remember all those “mystery toy” lines in the 90s, where you’d buy unknown capsules that would sometimes dissolve in water? Many toy manufacturesare still making them actually, preying on our child-like sense of curiosity — now, Nintendo seems to be in on the fun. Starting today, Club Nintendo members can now grab “Surprise Me Boxes” for 300 coins apiece. It looks like they’re already sold out, but keep the page bookmarked in case they restock....

Uh, last-gen looks fine Just in case you wanted to compare versions before buying a specific edition ofMetal Gear Solid V, Konami has provided awebsite with multiple galleriesfor every platform (PC above). Based on these screens, and it’s no surprise, the PC looks like most detailed, followed by current-gen, then last-gen. But you know what? All of them look pretty fantastic, and I was surprised at how great the PS3 and 360 versions look side-by-side (in still shots anyway, framerate is another thing)....

The Five-SeveN is one of the most powerful sidearms inCounter-Strike 2. Besides theDesert Eagle, this CT side pistol has arguably the highest skill ceiling of any secondary weapon in the game. Kind of useless when used by a new player but incredibly dangerous in the hands of aCSveteran. Like allweapons inCS2, the Five-SeveN features 36 unique weapon skins you may purchase to jazz up the appearance of your sidearm. Let’s put them into a Tier List, shall we?...

Hackers just found out about it RememberF-Zero GXfor the GameCube? Fun game, and as it turns out, it’s been hiding the arcade version in it this whole time.F-Zero AXwas developed at the same time asGX, and both versions are essentially the same. Arcade players were given exclusive race tracks, which GameCube players would be able to gain access to after inserting their memory cards into the arcade units. Easier said than done, as it was hard to find the cabinet at arcades....

It’s not just the mainline games; even free-to-play spin-offFallout Shelteris enjoying a boost in players and revenue thanks to the TV show, with Bethesda also adding four of the show’s characters to the game. In case you missed the news, on April 11 (the day after the show debuted on Amazon Prime Video),Bethesda announceda new update forFallout Shelterbased on the TV show. Said update is now live and has added a new questline comprised of eight quests as well as new locations and six unlockable vault dwellers, which includes the three leads: Lucy MacLean, Maximus, and The Ghoul....

Glamours have always been the true ‘end goal’ inFinal Fantasy XIV, and when Dawntrail (7.0) was introduced, people were excited to see where the new story arc would take us. However, many were more excited for a QoL update — second dye channels in gear.
