Blizzard are not talking with Microsoft about a possible next-generation console, according to a statementGameSpotreceived from a Blizzard representative.
Let’s backtrack for a second. Last week, during a GDC discussion, we reported that Blizzard vice president of game design Rob Pardo told GI.biz that Blizzard werespeaking with Microsoft about a new console. Simple story, really, but apparently Pardo’s words were misunderstood.
“In the Lunch with Luminaries discussion, Rob said that Microsoft occasionally bounces ideas off of us, with no specific reference to any possible future consoles,” the rep said. “This should come as no surprise, as our games run on Microsoft’s PC operating system. We aren’t in discussions with Microsoft regarding any future consoles.”
In hindsight, I suppose it did sound a tad bitNettlefishy
