Back in October, we posted asuper tall infographicthat chronicled the history of console gaming (with some corners cut here and there). The cats responsible for that monster (Hotel Club) have concocted another massive chart, this one breaking down the various gaming genres into “worlds.” Like, literal worlds. Each genre is its own galaxy of planets.

Some of the breakdowns focus on the mechanical attributes of a genre, such as the Platform and Sports worlds, whereas others focus on thematic attributes, like the Crime and Movie worlds. Each planet is represented by a few stand-out titles, such asMetal Gear Solid(War) andGhost’n Goblins(Horror), which are then tagged with trivia like sales data and various development info.
