Crysisfans have been sent into a blood-pumping tizzy this morning after a Chinese social media website seemingly jumped the gun on what appears to be an official announcement of a brand new sequel.
A mysterious new imagepopped up on social media serviceBiliBili earlier this morning, alongside text which — when translated — read:“Crysis 4project is confirmed, opening a new nano battlefield! Follow@Crytek, we will continue to update you with the latest news”. The post was removed shortly thereafter.
The supposed sequel will be the first new release in the sci-fi shooter series in almost a decade, following on fromCrysis 3,which launched on PC and consoles to critical and fan acclaim back in 2013. In recent years, the originalCrysistrilogy was remastered, bringing its hi-tech and hi-octane action to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and evenNintendo Switchback in the summer of 2020.
No doubt we can expect an official statement from Crytek soon. Better start getting that rig in gear.
