As part of theNintendo Partner Directtoday, THQ Nordic announced that 2010’sEpic Mickeyis getting remade inDisney’s Epic Mickey Rebrushed.
Alongside the announcement is a trailer that shows off the upgrades. The game was original released on the Wii. To be fair, it was a pretty good looking Wii title, but the extra layer of shininess is noticeable. Starkly, the trailer opens by showing glimpses of the game’s opening (the one in the Nintendo Direct actually shows gameplay). If you’re familiar with the original, it’s very easy to see how things have improved.
Epic Mickeywas reasonably well received at launch. It involves Mickey going into a dark, painted world to face off against Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a character he upstaged back in the golden age of animation.
Can we workshop the title, though? No one says “Rebrushed.” It doesn’t work as a play on words.
Switch is the only platform announced forEpic Mickey: Rebrushed, but it’s set to release sometime in 2024.
