In disappointing but not entirely unexpected news,Final Fantasyfans planning to grab thephysical edition ofFinal Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remasterfor Nintendo Switch will have to downloadX-2.
A note on theofficial site for the remastered collectionconfirmed as much. “Final Fantasy X HD Remasteravailable on game card.Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remastergame content is download only. Single-use voucher included. Internet connection required. microSD card may be required.”
Frustratingly, the Japanese and Southeast Asian versionswillfit both titles on a single game card.
There was concern about a potential download requirement on Switch given that the PlayStation Vita version ofFinal Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remastercame with a voucher forX-2, so it’s not like we didn’t see this coming, but that doesn’t make the situation any less vexing. Square Enix could have put in more effort for physical buyers. Instead, the company prioritized keeping its manufacturing costs down.
I hope y’all invested in a decent microSD card for your Switch. That internal storage sure goes quick.
