Telltale is developingThe Wolf Among Uswith the weight of the most critically acclaimed game of 2012 on its shoulders, but it’s starting to look like the studio may have another ace up its sleeve.Game Informer‘s interview with Kevin Bruner, president and co-founder of Telltale, has revealed the first (unbelievably good looking) screens and details ofThe Wolf Among Us, a prequel to Vertigo’s popular comic seriesFables.

While the game’s development started around the same time asThe Walking Dead, it appears Telltale seesThe Wolf Among Usas a continued evolution of the studio’s efforts in tech and design. LikeThe Walking Dead, Wolf will contain characters that reappear throughout episodes and provide tough moral choices to the player. After studying the player stats that droveThe Walking Dead, Telltale is changing its approach.

“We like that 50/50 divide when we look at stats,” Bruner told Game Informer. “If everyone goes down one direction, then it really wasn’t that interesting of a choice.”

Another evolution in design is the addition of a timeline that dictates different scenarios happening at certain locations at different times. In other words, two players may have different experiences because they chose to visit an area at later or earlier.

I’ve never readFablesbut I’ve been looking forward to Telltale introducing me to its world. After concerns that the game wouldn’t shareThe Walking Dead‘s strengths, Bruner has made me believeThe Wolf Among Uswill be an even better game. If not that, at least an even better looking one.
