During your travels inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you may have stumbled on something called an Indulgence Chest asking for a sum of your hard-earned groschen. The amount it asks for varies, and it isn’t clear what happens if you pay up. So, what does it do?
Paying money to an Indulgence Chest helps restore your reputation inKingdom Come 2. The amount you pay depends on how bad your reputation is in the region. You may only need to pay a few hundred groschen to restore your good name, but it could go up into the thousands based on your actions.
Where to find Indulgence Chests inKingdom Come 2
There are a handful of Indulgence Chests in the game. For the most part, you should be able to find one near a scribe. You can find an Indulgence Chest in Troskowitz near the town’s center. A second one is located in the southern tower of Trosky Castle. Their icons on the map look like golden crosses.
Indulgence Chests are small, wooden chests adorned with metal highlights and a large chain. They can blend in pretty well with their surroundings. Walk up to the chest and it’ll show the amount you owe at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
How to check your reputation
To check your reputation inKingdom Come 2, open the menu, navigate to the Player tab, and click on Reputation. There, you can check your reputation among folks in the mills, the forest, and the various towns in the region. Clicking on the sections opens them up to give you a more detailed look.
The face on the right side gives you a visual representation of your current reputation. A grinning golden face means your reputation is high, whereas a red frowning face is low. Selecting a group gives you an exact number of where you stand with certain folk. A good reputation should begin at 60, while anything below 50 is poor. The number can go into the negative as well.
What happens when you pay an Indulgence Chest?
Paying a tithe at an Indulgence Chest helps improve your reputation in the area. The amount you pay changes based on your reputation. If it’s rather good, you shouldn’t have to pay all that much. But it will skyrocket the worse you act. Paying the first time also unlocks the Tithes codex entry, explaining the history behind the process.
While paying at an Indulgence Chest can increase your reputation, that doesn’t mean it automatically jumps to 100. The cash merely improves your good standing; it’s really more helpful if you’ve pissed a lot of people off. Getting your reputation higher takes more than a sack of groschen — you need to work for that praise.
