MTV Games and parent company Viacom spent some major cash for you to be able to playRock Bandas The Beatles.
According to theLA Times, Viacom has promised rights holders a minimum of somewhere around $10 million. On top of that, according to people familiar with the terms of the deal, an additional $40 million will be paid ifBeatles: Rock Bandperforms as expected at retail. Damn. Theyreallywanted to make a Beatles game work! That’s a lot of money to promise, especially seeing as how music game sales are down.

Aswe told you the other day, EA is slowly stepping away from the plastic-based music games. MTV is singing the same song:
“Our core competency is media,” said Paul DeGooyer, senior vice president of electronic games and music for MTV Games. “Let [Activision] take on the burden of getting those super-tight margin instruments out there.”

I think they’re okay for now, though. The Beatles have plenty of fans.
