Do you hate the new Xbox 360 dash? I don’t, but the ads kind of suck. Know that you can opt out of them. Serious bitching has taken place since the update, but I won’t join in, as the ‘play disc’ and game list options are easily found. That’s all I need.

Indie developer Nathan Fouts ofMommy’s Best Gamesdislikes the new dash. Maybe ‘hate’ is too strong a word. I know he does dislike how the system’s indie games channel seems to have been pushed off to the side. You have to dig a bit to find the titles, and that’s what inspired Foults to create his latest,Game Type.

Game Typeis named after the name of the dashboard section that you’ll have to select to find indie games. The game starts off with the player having to find their way through a faux dash, complete with mock ads. When the game is found and started, you’ll be dropped into a hilarious shmup where these ads have come to life. I love that you’re controlling “hoodie girl,” a character inspired by the horrible stock photo that Microsoft assigned to the Game Type section box. Hoodie Girl has to fight MediaBall.Amazing.

There’s some decent gaming for your 80 Microsoft Points here. The title supports 2-player co-op and online high scores. You’ll just have to dig for it in the dash.
