Bad news if you were hoping to getMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painall pre-loaded up on your PC in time for the September 1 launch — Konami has confirmed that there’s no pre-load available on Steam.

“Unfortunately PC Steam will not have a pre-load option,” said Konami’s online community manager, Robert Allen Peeler onTwitter. “However players will be able to pre-load on console.”

When pressed for a reason why — particularly as console versionscanpre-load — Peeler said that unfortunately he didn’t have“a specific reason”, stating that it was “pretty common practice for PC/Steam users”.
