Get it, it’s fantastic

Once upon a time the 3DS wasn’t doing so hot. Sales weren’t great shortly after its launch, there were hardly any games for it on the horizon, and Virtual Console updates were a joke. As you may probably tell, it got much better as each year went by.

Ocarina of Time 3Dis a huge reason why I came to love the handheld. The touched-up visuals are absolutely beautiful, the new controls were superior to the original in every way, and the portable format was perfect forZelda, as it has been many times in the past.

Sadly, it looks like it may be out of production based on an email a gamer recently obtained from Play-Asia. According to the email, the company notes: “we have been trying to contact Nintendo about the re-stocking, and unfortunately, they have stopped production. The game is now officially discontinued.” Play-Asia then tells the customer to purchase the game on the eShop with a prepaid card for $39.99.

This hasn’t been confirmed at other retailers, but I’ve reached out to Toys”R”Us, Target, and Walmart for comment. A quick glance at Amazon and a few other sites show it going for $60 used.

People often lament the dawn of digital, but in some cases, it can be a good thing. Growing up since the Atari era I remember when games basically became non-existent after a few years, leaving you to fend for yourself by way of $100 or more eBay bids.
