The paranormal horror gamePhasmophobiaoriginally launched on June 22, 2025, on PC where it enjoyed popularity among streamers. Kinetic Games has PS5 and Xbox Series X/S ports in the works, but you’ll have to wait a little longer than expected before you can get your hands on them. As the studio explains on Twitter, the delay is the result of a “fire incident” in its office building, along with “unpredicted development issues.” With the extra time gained by the delay, the studio hopes to perfect and fine-tune the ports.

The delay isn’t too long, and in the meantime, PC players can enjoythe recently released Ascension updatewhich brings several changes, including a new leveling system with “new rates of progression, new unlocks, and a prestige system,” along with several minor bug fixes.

PS5 owners will be happy to know that a PS VR2 version is also in the works, and crossplay will allow friends to play together regardless of what platform they’re on. The game has already demonstrated that it is capable of providing a terrifying VR experience thanks to its VR support on PC.

Phasmophobia‘s minor delay pushes it into an appropriately spooky time, which could end up being a positive for it. However,Phasmophobiawill have to contend with several other headliners scheduled for October, including horror titles likeAlan Wake 2andAlone in the Dark.
