I had all but forgotten aboutRetro Game Masteruntil I came across this bit of news. Known in Japan asGame Center CX, it’s the kind of programming that G4 ought to be airing instead of reruns ofCopsandCheaters. Comedian Shinya Arino takes on classic games with the help of his assistants, like having a team ofNintendo Game Play Counselorsin the room next door. What’s not to love?
The show led toRetro Game Challengefor the DS. We never did get theRetro Game Challenge 2localized, but an American release of the show itself sounds like a good trade-off. A few months ago, independent licensor Discotek Media announced that it hadsecured the rightsto the 12 episodes that streamed on Kotaku. A few days ago, Discotekslapped a dateof September 18 on the DVD release, and the episode count seems to have been bumped up to 14.

If the sales are solid, we could get more DVDs in the future. So, who’s up to spending a few bucks?
