Here’s the roadmap for the near future
Four months ago,we talked to Psyonix at PAX Westand got a rough overview of the future ofRocket League. Now that we’re squarely into 2018, those plans are becoming a lot clearer and a lot more imminent.
Psyonix revealedRocket League‘s month-by-month roadmap for the spring, and it’s full of additions and improvements. One of the most notable changes is that the Switch version will get performance and quality modes in March. Those who want to prioritize performance will get 60 frames per second at 900p resolution in docked mode and 720p while portable; the quality prioritization is 1080p while docked and 720p while portable, both at 30 frames per second.

There’s also plenty of news for competitive-oriented players. The roadmap indicates that single-elimination tournaments should be implemented in March or April. There will be a public tournament beta on Steam sometime in February. Also, on February 7, season 6 ends and season 7 begins. The reward for season 6 is a new set of wheels, and here’s what they look like:
As for some hotly-anticipated features like cross-platform parties and Xbox One X enhancements, well, those are still broadly planned for 2018. There’s no real word as to when we can expect them, but they should be within the calendar year. Here’s everything fromRocket League‘s new roadmap:

Play against other players in bracketed, single elimination tournaments

See notifications for Packet Loss, Latency Variance, and Server Performance in-game
Will help us and the community better differentiate between “server issues” and connection problems

Switch Performance & Visual Quality Updates
Performance Mode – 900p (Docked) / 720p (Handheld) @ 60 FPS with infrequent dynamic resolution scaling
Quality Mode – Native 1080p (Docked) / 720p (Handheld) @ 30 FPS with added visual effects

April and Beyond:
Party up and matchmake with players from other (participating) platforms

Make XP relevant again
Earn Decryptors through play

New Banners, Titles, and other rewards for reaching high levels
New Arenas
New Features
Xbox One X – We are now targeting Xbox One X support for late 2018
