In February of last year, Konami started its own anime studio, appropriately called Konami Animation. Now, one year later, the studio is embarking on its first full TV anime project to adaptSuikoden II.

Much like the studio’s name, the title of the anime is another no-brainer.Suikoden: The Animeaims to bring the second entry in the series — whichfirst hit PlayStation back in 1998— to the screen at an as-yet-undecided date. So far, outside of the source material, the only thing we really know is that Yuzo Sato (MUTEKING THE Dancing HERO) is directing.

Prior to this, the recently-established Konami Animation got its start working on animation production forYu-Gi-Oh! Card Game The Chronicles. The pair ofanime shortswere created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the game.

While we wait for the full dish on the anime, there’s moreSuikodenon the horizon. Chief among the other announcements isSuikoden: Star Leap, a mobile game with a new 108-star story set in the same world as earlier entries. There’s no release date yet, but this one will be a free-to-play game on iOS and Android.

Aki Shimizu, who handled theSuikoden IIImanga, has a manga adaptation in the works forStar Leap.

From the screen to the stage,Suikodenis also entering the expansive world of stage plays in Japan.Gensou Suikoden – Mon no Monshou Sensou-hen(Suikoden: The Crest of the Gate War Arc) aims to cover the first game in Konami’s series. Norihito Nakayashiki is writing and directing, and performances will begin in Tokyo’s Theater H and Kyoto’s Kyoto Theater this December.

Lest we neglect the more immediate future, Konami also shared a launch trailer forSuikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, whichhits consoles and PC later this week.
