Considering physical release too

Yooka-Laylee, theBanjo-Kazooiespiritual successor that did incredibly well on Kickstarter a few months back, is apparently getting published by Team17. Best known for the Worms series, it has also been publishing indie titles likeBeyond EyesandThe Escapists. Team17 will not only be handling digital publishing, but are also looking into publishing physical versions of the game too.

Speaking toMCV, managing director Debbie Bestwick at Team17 said  “There is a large demand for a physical game, Playtonic took the decision not to include this in the Kickstarter for the very reason that it could impact on development and at the time of their Kickstarter it would have been a big risk.”

“Team17 has lots of experience in physical and will share ideas and opportunities with Playtonic – so absolutely we will be looking into it.”

In a backer update detailing the partnership, developer Playtonic Games stresses that it still maintains total creative control over the project. Team17 is enlisted to help with the “boring-but-necessary business stuff.”
