Epic Games announced today that the pre-load for a newMatrixexperience is live now, ahead of its full reveal.The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experienceis ready to get loaded onto your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S console right now.

The trailer description saysThe Matrix Awakensis created by members of the original movie team, including Lana Wachowski, alongside Epic Games and its partners. It’s a ride into the universe ofThe Matrixfeaturing performances by series mainstays Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.
Both Reeves and Moss areappearing at the 2021 Game Awards, where all will be revealed.
Epic also recently collaborated on theKID A MNESIA Exhibition, a virtual celebration of Radiohead’s music. And withFortnitebeing as meta-versey as it is, its parent company working on larger media crossovers certainly makes a good deal of sense.
It’s also cool to seeThe Matrixback in the games space. It’s been ages since the days ofPath of Neoor even the (possibly canon-affecting)Matrix Online. WithThe Matrix Resurrectionspremiering later this month, I’m hopeful this means a generalMatrixresurgence.
All will be announced at The Game Awards 2021. The show goes live on Thursday, Dec. 9, and thenominee list is already outand able to be voted on. In anew interview with USA Today, showrunner Geoff Keighley assured there would be “at least four or five things” at the show on the scale of theElden Ringgameplay reveal.
