It’ll have Steam Controller support too
Valve and Creative Assembly are plotting to releaseTotal War: Rome IIon SteamOS and Linux early next year. Along with the port to Linux, they will add support for the Steam Controller.
Rob Bartholomew, the brand director at Creative Assembly, had this to say aboutRome IIcoming to Linux: “We’ve always wanted theTotal Warfranchise to be enjoyed by living room gamers, but the limitations of traditional hardware made our style of game play impossible. Last month, when Valve invited us to test out the new Steam Controller and unveiled their plans for SteamOS — we were impressed. We believe it will provide us with the control fidelity and platform we need to make a living room experience forRome IIthat could be a more compelling experience than playing with keyboard and mouse.”

I don’t know about it playing better with a controller than with a keyboard and mouse, but it will be interesting to see what they do to make it work with the Steam Controller.
The game is on sale onSteam for 25%off right now, and buying it now for PC and Mac will mean you’ll be able to play it on your Steam Machine next year.
