A Wo Long demo? Sign me up!

Given the lower impact of this “summer of gaming” push, I wouldn’t blame you for forgettingWo Long, Team Ninja’s “dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty” in action game form. But once theWo Longdemo comes out, provided that it’s a blast, you’ll probably be hearing about it then!

Yep,over on the game’s official Twitter account, the studio is starting their marketing campaign early, noting that the game will have sorcery elements, as well as online multiplayer, a morale system, a character creator, and more. The last bullet point is the most important: a “gameplay trial in the near future.”

Starting with the pre-launch period forNiohyears back, it’s been customary for Team Ninja to test out their action game via highly prolific game trials: which also serve as a beta of sorts. It allows the studio to reevaluate their internal meta, adjust things like mechanics, animations, and difficulty curves; and even spotlights quality of life features.

So far it’s worked out pretty great for them, as bothNiohentries have been bolstered by great beta-to-launch upgrades, and meaty post-launch patches. Given thatWo Longis out in “early 2023” (as of the time of publication), this will be plenty of time to assess and readjust if it is indeed coming “in the near future.”
